As the sun rise over the majestic skyline of Santiago, Chile, on March 8, 2024, legal professionals from across the Americas convened for a day of stimulating discourse and collaborative engagement at the 3rd AIJA Americas Meeting. Hosted by the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats, a.k.a. AIJA. This event served as a platform for lawyers under 45 to exchange experiences, explore emerging trends, and address pressing issues shaping the legal landscape of the region.
The day kicked off with a series of captivating panel sessions that delved into topics ranging from green investments to navigating political unrest in Latin America. Attendees were treated to thought-provoking discussions on the potential of green hydrogen and lithium, underscoring the increasing importance of sustainability in the global economy.
One of the highlights of the event was the exploration of development in environments of political unrest. Panelists provided valuable insights into managing political risk in international investments, emphasizing the role of technology in political manipulation and the need for stakeholders to adapt to uncertain political scenarios.

Furthermore, the event coincided with International Women’s Day, prompting meaningful conversations about gender equality in the legal profession. Participants reflected on the decisive role of women in driving positive change in Latin America and their contribution to lawyering in both private and public organizations.
The 3rd AIJA Americas Meeting would not have been possible without the generous support and organizational efforts of the following prominent law firms: Porzio | Rios | Garcia Abogados (special thanks to Andres Sotomayor for the welcome brunch invitation); Carey (special thanks to my dear friend Jaime Carey Astaburuaga, who received us in his beautiful office with a Pisco Sour lesson); Cuatrecasas (special thanks to Tomás Kubick for the Home Hospitality Dinner); Philipi, Prietocarrizosa, Ferrero DU & Uría (PPU); Albagli Zaliasnik; and OUC.

By fostering collaboration and dialogue among young lawyers, AIJA continues to empower the next generation of legal professionals to navigate the complex challenges of our rapidly evolving world. Thus, the 3rd AIJA Americas Meeting stands as a testament to the power of collective action and collaboration in driving positive change within the legal profession. As we look towards the future, let us remain committed to advancing the principles of innovation, diversity, and sustainability.
